In this guide, I will show you how to install Amazon Freevee on Mi Box. This installation tutorial also works on the Mi TV stick, Mi Box 3, Mi Box S (1st gen), Mi Box S (2nd gen), Mi Box 4K, and any other variant of the Xiaomi TV Box. This also works for other Android TV Boxes such as Onn Streaming stick, Onn 4K Pro, Nokia 8010, and also Firestick/Fire TV devices.
Amazon Freevee is a free, ad-supported streaming service owned by Amazon. It offers a wide range of movies, TV shows, Live TV channels, and original content without requiring a subscription.
Amazon Freevee, previously known as IMDb TV, was rebranded on April 27, 2022. Despite the name change, the service still offers the same great package.
This app allows users to watch numerous movies and shows at no cost. The app is available on devices like Mi Box, other Android TV devices, and Google TV devices.
Unlike paid services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, you can watch everything on Freevee for free, but you might have to sit through a few ads.
In summary, Amazon Freevee is definitely one of the best Mi Box apps when it comes to free streaming.
It’s a great option if you want to enjoy a variety of content without the monthly subscription fee, and you don’t mind watching some ads.

So many people are under the assumption that Freevee is an unlicensed third-party app. They wonder if Freevee is legit at all.
Well, let’s put all those thoughts to rest today.
Amazon Freevee is completely legit and absolutely legal. It’s owned by Amazon itself, and all the content is properly licensed by Amazon.
And, that’s the reason why it is only available in the United States and U.S Territories. Because they only hold the licenses for these regions.
Yes, it’s completely safe. The app is officially available on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Amazon App Store, and other official stores.
It has already been checked and vetted by these mentioned stores, so you have nothing to worry about when downloading Freevee on your Android TV box.
As I mentioned before, Freevee is only available in the United States and U.S. territories. So if you are in the US, just head over to the Google Play Store and search for Freevee. You will be able to install it directly.
However, if you are not in the United States, then you won’t be able to find Freevee on the Google Play store. You will see something like “Amazon Freevee isn’t available on Google Play on This Device”
Don’t worry, I’ll show you how to install it outside the United States as well.
You need a VPN for this step.
You should note that you NEED a VPN to use Freevee anyway. The app won’t work if you don’t have a U.S. VPN connected.
So get a VPN first. I recommend Surfshark VPN because it’s absolutely cheap.
1. Connect your VPN to a US-based server.
2. Create a Gmail account while connected to the VPN. (Do this on your phone or computer)
3. Since you are connected to the US server, the Gmail account will be US-based.
4. On your Mi Box, connect to the VPN (US-server).
5. In the top-right corner of the home screen, click your profile picture. Click Add Account.
6. Sign in to your newly created Gmail account.
7. Once signed into the new account, go to Google Play Store.
8. Inside Google Play store, click your profile pic in the top-right > Switch Accounts > select the newly added account.
9. Now search for Freevee in Google Play. It will show up in the results.
10. Install it.
You have now installed Amazon Freevee directly from the Google Play store.
I will also show you how to install it without a VPN, but keep in mind, that you won’t be able to use it without a VPN anyway.
So, just connect a VPN and download it via Google Play store.
For this method, you need to have an alternative app store installed on your Mi Box (Android TV Box).
This app store is called Aptoide TV and it lets you install a lot of apps that might not be available on Google Play Store. Here’s how to get it.
1. On the Mi Box homescreen, head to Apps > Google Play Store. Search for the Downloader app and click Install. For detailed instructions, please refer to our video tutorial – How to install Downloader on Mi Box
2. Now go to Settings > Device Preferences > Security & restrictions. Turn OFF Verify Apps, and then inside the Unknown Sources option, turn ON Downloader so it is Allowed.
3. Open the Downloader app, type jailbreakmibox.com/aptoide in the URL field, and hit Go.
4. When the download is completed, press install.
5. Once installation is finished, click DONE.
6. You will be brought back to the Downloader screen and see a prompt to delete the APK file. Click Delete.
Note: We want to delete the APK installation file from Mi Box. Removing the APK file will free up space in your Mi Box storage and ensure you don’t run out of storage.
7. Now go to the Apps section on your Android TV Box, you will see Aptoide TV installed there.
8. Now go to Settings > Device Preferences > Security & restrictions. Then inside the Unknown Sources option, turn ON Aptoide TV so it is Allowed.
9. Now open Aptoide TV (Grant it any permissions it requires) and search for Freevee.
10. Click Install.
Freevee is now installed on your Android TV Box outside the United States, and you didn’t even need a VPN to install it.
Awesome, right?
Well, you are gonna need a VPN to use it. It won’t work without a VPN at all.
1. Connect your VPN. Make sure you’re connected to US server. (I recommend Surfshark VPN)
2. Open Freevee.
3. Sign in with your Amazon account, or just Continue as guest.
4. You can stream movies, TV shows, and Live TV all for free.
5. In the left-sidebar, you can select categories like Movies, TV, Live TV, etc.
6. You can also add content to My List so you can easily access it.
7. Settings have different options that you can tweak, but there are no integrations offered.
The interface is straightforward and pretty simple to navigate. You will have no problem using the app. Just click any show or movie you wanna stream, and it will start playing.
Well, the best is different for everyone, but for me, the best shows on Amazon Freevee are The Boys (Not the latest season), Reacher (Not the latest season), Person of Interest, Schitt’s Creek, and Duck Dynasty.
Again, this is subjective as well, but the best movies on Freevee are Fury, Road, The Other Guys, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Split, and Condemned.
Some of these movies are only there for a limited time so you might not see them when you install the app.
Yes, you can not use this app without a VPN. You need a VPN that offers a US server/IP in order to stream free movies and TV shows with this app.
Amazon Freevee is an excellent app for streaming free content on your Mi Box and other Android TV devices.
Whether you’re in the US or outside, following these steps will help you enjoy a wide variety of movies and shows without the need for a subscription.
